Kips Bay

.
enduring images-

I did get to the Kips Bay Decorator Show House while in New York. Here are the take away inspirations. (all the images are from the VandM.com's design and tell with thanks).

The surfaces were what intrigued me most. Lots of lacquered walls- but no pictures of note from the Show.  The shagreen walls in the first image are paneled by Shagreen Art. One their website they state: Conscious of the need to preserve the Earth’s dwindling flora and fauna, we insist on using reforested wood sources. WoodSkin is 100% wood. No animal skins are ever involved! The second treasure is a band box of a space-a small dressing closet, featured, a diminutive mannequin in a fantastical Napoleonic inspired women's suit by  Maggie Norris Couture. The blog Master the Art of Style has a wonderful look at Maggie Norris and her work.  The inspiration shows the beautiful work of Sculpt du Fleur. The artist Nina Helms has created the effect of handcarved plaster- a lilac in cold white on a sophisticated deep grey wall.

There were many modern-way too hip-creations & machinations for me. I must be getting old, however I have been told I was born that way. I think that was a compliment. I have also been referred to as the 1000 year old woman- I don't think that was.

So, these are the things that caught my eye- You can go to VandM to take the tour-in depth, & tell me what inspired you most?
