"Splitpiece"
adidas Originals have teamed up with South African graffiti star, Falko One, to launch Splitpiece; a marriage of graffiti art, street culture and fashion presented to you on the streets of South Africa.
Splitpiece should be viewed as continuation from but also an extension of the adidas Originals parties, the first of which was in 2008 in Cape Town, and the 2009 ‘House Party’ was held in JHB.
Zobuzwe Ngobese (PR Manager for adidas South Africa) has described it best: “We needed to take the global “Celebrate Originality” campaign and make it meaningful to our SA audience. adidas brought in well known graffiti artist Falko to do this. The idea is to create five murals around the country, culminating in one fluid masterpiece to be unveiled at the event,”.
The murals will be created around the country on the following dates:
Sat 25th and Sun 26th Sept: Jan Smuts Drive, JHB
Monday 27th Sept: Melrose Arch, JHB
Tuesday 28th Sept: Drake Road, KZN
Saturday 2nd October: V&A Waterfront Originals store, CT
Sunday 3rd October: Kloof Street, CT

“This concept is a first in the world of murals; it is an idea created from several influences but the main inspiration is to be `the first` in the world with something completely new and inspiring,” says Falko One. “The amazing aspect to this is that the final product can only be understood once it has been completed and joined”.

The campaign will culminate in a street party on October 23rd in Newtown, JHB with international scratch DJ Craze and there will be tickets to be won to the party.
