Mexico's Bicentenario De La Independencia

In spite of Mexico's challenges and the cancellation of traditional parades in Mexico, you do know there's a party going on in the Mexican community today, right?  This year (2010), "Mexico will celebrate 200 years of Independence (1810) from the Spanish Crown and 100 years since the Revolution of 1910 that toppled dictator Porfirio Diaz.  The Bicentennial of Mexican Independence (Día de La Independencia) will be celebrated on September 16th and the Centennial of The Mexican Revolution (La Revolucíon Mexicana) on November 20th."  [Mexonline.com]  Not to be confused with Cinco de Mayo, Mexican Independence Day celebrates the events and people that eventually resulted in independence from Spain, the country that had control over the territory of New Spain, as it was also known then.  [Mexonline.com]  Cheers to independencia!
