New York Fashion Week: The Row RTW F/W 2011

The Row, a luxury apparel and accessories brand by twin sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen was launched in 2007 with a simple mission to make the perfect T-shirt. In just five short years since its inception, the line has expanded to include a complete range of sophisticated essentials, from the perfect pair of leather leggings and evening dresses to elegantly tailored knitwear and outerwear. The Row's style philosophy does not believe in trends, but rather places a sharp focus on clean lines, ultra-refined silhouettes and the perfect fit.
The sister's statement for their ready-to-wear Fall / Winter 2011 collection, cool and elegant clothes worn with vintage couture.

“We wanted to have fun with it all,” said Mary-Kate. “To play with the furs, and the accessories.” So, what better way to play than to wear a belted, voluminous leopard-print goatskin coat or cap-sleeved, tightly waisted, full-skirted taupe wool dress, than with chunky cream socks, needlepoint slippers, and a fox-pelt head wrap that looks like the kind of hat Ara Gallant might have whipped up? And then also play everything down, instead, with a chic (sorry, I know, isn’t everything in fashion, but there really is no other word for it) claret Persian lamb jacket and velvet cropped pants, or a loose black chiffon T-shirt dress with panels of black beading, worn with tiny shorts.
