the tea act- the East India Company could sell their surplus tea to colonists at a discount.The colonists took this as a way to unfairly compete with local merchants by undercutting the brethren.

The colonists wouldn't let the tea be delivered from ships in Boston harbor and the Brits wouldn't command the ships to raise anchor and leave. SO what else...

the TEA PARTY- Enough already! On a December evening, a posse of colonists led by Sam Adams (cousin of John) and the Sons of Liberty led a raid on three British ships in Boston harbor...frocked up as Mohawk Indians.

They dumped out 342 cases of tea into the harbor while many colonists took in the sight.

Even the British admiral was watching from his room(safe)...and of course everyone knew they weren't really Mohawks...WAR was brewing-NOT TEA.

During the Revolution era, Edenton, North Carolina was a hotbed of political debate. After approximately fifty men, dressed like Indians, boarded ships on December 1773, and dumped tea in the Boston, Massachusetts harbor to protest imposing trade legislation, many North Carolinians approved.

Yeah!, WE in North Carolina got it right, and looked fabulous doing it. It took us many many many years to repeat it when NC went BLUE for THE PRESIDENT-GO OBAMA 2008!




The Mumps- one of the most obscure, but distinctive, New York bands of the late '70s, a theatrical fusion of pop, punk, glam rock. Lance Loud, lead singer-the band music was satire of '70s culture, predating the similar obsessions of the B-52's by years.
