teamuncool fashion likes: Burberry holographic models, Prorsum Autumn/Winter 2011 collection

Is this the future of catwalk shows? On Wednesday night British label Burberry held a fashion show with holographic models for it's Prorsum Autumn/Winter 2011 collection - directed, conceptualized and executed by Christopher Bailey:

This could well be the beginning of an exciting new era in the fusion of the technology and fashion. The holographic images have been combined with live models to create a surreal and absolutely magical runway experience. And when you watch the video below, the holograms are so good its hard to tell where the live models end and the digital ones begin. Even the outfits change when the model's walk into each other. Welcome to the next level.

Watch the video of holographic modeling set to Dusty Springfield's 'You Don't Own Me' below and try to get your head around the use of lighting and holograms:

Paris Fashion Week: Kenzo F/W 2011-2012, a Tribute to Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keefe

The invitation to the fashion show was a subtle reference to a Mexican celebration Los Dias de Los Muertos, Day of the Dead, a festive day that honors the spirit of family ancestors.
Designer Antonio Marras's collection was inspired by Mexico and the American southwest, and greatly influenced by Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keeke's paintings and personal style. " The collection is about them," Marras told journalists after the show. You could see the dramatic styles of both women in the flowing dresses and skirts, some in oversized flower-print fabrics, and the voluminous outerwear.

A magnificent collection of long skirts and flowing dresses in flower and paisley-print fabrics, men's jackets with beadwork, and black lace suits. A palette of colors of earth tone, dark brown, olive, mustard and deep bordeaux highlight the new season collection.

Paris Fashion Week: Manish Arora Fall/Winter 2011

Paris Fashion Week, the last in the month-long fashion carousel, has began on Tuesday March 1. Sequins and mirror work covered the Fall/ Winter 2011 collection of India's inventive designer Manish Arora. His garments combine contemporary silhouettes with vivid palette of colors and rich embroideries, trompe-l'oeil tights, and exquisite prints done in collaboration with German artist Amrei Hofstatter, with a touch of Aztec influences. This season's version also features flexible metallic carapaces that fit like futuristic corsetry, a possible clue that Arora is already thinking about his first collection at Paco Rabanne this Fall.
