Roses- in its own rose colored container- is available in a limited edition-that's inspired by Liberty fabrics, a rosebud fabric motif on a black ground decorates the box. Inspired by the fabric House, the candle and box pay tribute to the Diptyque founders who originally designed textiles for the historic Liberty of London. ROSES is made with several different species of Roses, but to me it maintains its single note fragrance-which makes it pleasing to a WOODY fragrance girl like me.
Liberty's new flagship store on Sloane St., London. 1960's-style chandeliers hang from flowered ceiling and client dressing areas recall the Orient Express- train seats, velvet curtains.
Pink roses are for love hopeful and expectant.
My favorite Diptyque scents are in their WOODY classification. The best are Bois Cire, Feu de Bois, and Chene.
Bois Cire- a complex scent of resin and frankincense, described as- and truly so- "reminiscent of antique stores, old family furniture and church pews." A beautiful old wood shelved Library.
Feu de Bois- the aroma of smokey Firewood
Chene- the aroma of Oakwood.
Diptyque made a limited edition available in the fall of 2008. The candle pays homage to the BASILE fabric- designed in 1963, by Christiane Montadre-one of the three original founders of Diptyque. As you can guess- all three evolved from artistic and interior decoration backgrounds from the Ecole des Beaux Arts. The
intricate geometric motif with broken and undulating lines is both simple and complex.
