I am a great lover of Asian cuisine and have long loved a red lantern and oodles of calligraphy. One of my favourite streets in the Marais is like a little corner of Asia, a pinch of China and a sprinkle of Vietnam. On cobblestoned Rue Maire not far from the Arts et Metiers Metro is a pocket of Asian supermarkets, restaurants, hairdressers and a fab billyard hall full of men playing cards and smoking. I have eaten Vietnamese Bo Bun, a fab mixture of noodles, salad, meat topped with spring rolls with Vicki from French Essence all over France. In Avignon and Perpignan, Aix en Provence and in the 13th arrondissement in Paris. No Entrecote and Frites for us! The next time she is in town I am going to suggest we munch our way through our bo bun in an ancient Parisian colambage, a rarity in this town. Here are some happy snaps of Rue Maire. Bon Appetit.
